Colleen
McDuling, our Scientific Advisor, informed all gathered in Library
Square about the validity and nature of animal experiments, which
have been proven countless times to be inaccurate for the study
of human health, and totally unnecessary when considering the other
scientific methods available.
Speeches drew
in about 30 people who listened to the reality of what is happening
at our own University, while others signed the petition and took
leaflets.
After interviews
with BBC South, activists marched around the science areas of the
campus with placards, whistles and megaphones. The route took them
past the buildings where animals are currently undergoing experiments,
finally ending outside the Animal House where animal waste could
clearly be smelt.
The march and
demonstration passed off peacefully with a banner drop also being
staged at the centre of campus and hundreds of leaflets handed out. |
